Life is Beautiful Again!!!

Today is a very historic day! Why, you may ask? Well, today was the first day that this California girl got to put her toes in the Baltic Sea! Yes! History has been made! Today should become a holiday to be celebrated for years to come!

The Baltic Sea is so beautiful! It is very blue. It is very calm and peaceful. The sand is very soft and is the color of light brown sugar. If only it could taste like light brown sugar. Then i would never be able to leave! I have now decided that i could live in Poland because i could live close to the beach... I guess i would be happy living anywhere that is close to the beach. Hopefully, wherever i do end up living will be within walking distance of the ocean.

Going to the Baltic Sea was amazing! I highly recommend it to everyone!

I Can Write Again!

Hello! So i have discovered this wonderful coffee shop in historical Gdansk called Costa Coffee. It is the best place in the world. It makes me feel like i am at home. Plus, it has free wifi. (wifi should always be free if you ask me!) The coffee is amazing, too. And it's something i can order despite not being able to read the descriptions because i already know what everything says. I thought that my love affair with coffee shops would end after i graduated from Cal Poly because i wouldn't have the excuse to go study at one but I am still hooked. It seems that coffee shops and i were meant to be together!

I haven't been able to write because i am still staying at my host's house. I don't want her to discover my blog. I guess i like my privacy a little. I dunno.

So things haven't gone to plan... I guess that keeps life interesting. More like it makes me grow and become stronger and stretch myself. All of which can be hard to do at times. My internship has "started." Pretty much this whole program that was created for 4 interns has turned into an entire program put on by me. Yeah. Interesting. Difficult. I go to high schools and speak to students about the USA, California, Tolerance (which i don't totally believe in so i teach it my way...) and how to understand other cultures.

So if that sounds difficult, imagine all of the things that can wrong with this. First off, i have to find the school by myself. That involves riding trams, buses, and trains. Not my favorite modes of transportation. (I miss my car!) Then when i get to the school, i have to find the people i am supposed to meet which always involves an ackward conversation with someone who only speaks Polish. Then i have to set up the projector and connect my computer. Then hopefully the class understands English (always a plus). Sometimes they don't know English and there isn't a translator. Interesting...

I still don't have my own flat. That is difficult at times but i am trying to keep an open mind and be greatful that i have somewhere to stay at all. Try living in a tiny 2 bedroom flat with a sweet Polish family. It can be done but it isn't the same as home. However, it does allow me to eat home cooked Polish food everyday so that is pretty amazing. I can't pronouce anything i've eaten but i will say i have liked everything they have made for me so far. That is pretty amazing considering i don't even always like everything that i make for myself when i am living on my own.

On the plus side, i am trying to enjoy every moment of Poland despite the difficulties. I have met a lot of really nice Polish people and love visiting the city. Imagine walking down streets that are over 1000 years old! Amazing!
